SoCal Mod Art

Sarah Stephens paints googie Southern California landmarks on matchbooks, cigarette boxes, and other "found" materials. From her website bio:

"Sarah is a recent graduate of ArtCenter College of Design. She enjoys being driven around the suburbs of Southern California and taking pictures of buildings and signs. These pictures become paintings, which is her way to document places that she fears will be replaced by condos or parking lots. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to Disneyland, and taking care of her elderly English Cocker Spaniel."

You can find her art here: Sarah Stephens Illustration.
As originally read about on the Argot and Ochre blog.
To inquire about buying her work, go here: Black Maria Gallery.

Yes, I like anyone who is about preserving the style and structures of the past (but then again, who here doesn't believe this to be true to some extent?) through art. Wondering if she's painted the Circus liquor store clown (North Hollywood) yet? That would be f-u-n!
